Now, as coronavirus started to spike again in Florida, Disney World has made a decision to re-open. Overall, the USA has seen almost 135,000 deaths out of 3.2 million cases.

Florida has now seen more than 250,000 total cases of confirmed coronavirus cases and has tallied more than 300 deaths in the last three days, with 11,000 new cases reported on today's park reopening day.

The Mouse House welcomed back guests Saturday to both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom - Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios are to follow next week - and on day 1 after being closed for months, the place didn't seem to fully have its act together. Saturday's visitors had reserved their tickets in advance, allowing Disney to control the number of people in the park and accommodate for social distancing.

As a result, many cities and counties across Florida have reinstated restrictions that were lifted in May when infections began to drop. "And so, what Disney is doing is really, I call it, akin to a living laugh because this is a wonderful experiment to figure out if we can reopen business and reopen our theme parks and do so in a safe manner". The park was carrying out temperature checks at the entrance and hand sanitizer was widely available. "By visiting Walt Disney World Resort you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19", the park said on its website. Disney said it was enforcing social distancing of six feet (two meters) at attractions and inside shops.

Parades, fireworks shows, and other crowd-drawing events have been cancelled.

Disneyland is the world's second most-visited theme park, trailing only its sister park in Florida, and draws tens of thousands of visitors each day.

But with the theme parks still shuttered as coronavirus cases climb in the USA state, visitors were restricted to the World of Disney souvenir store and a number of cafes and shops.
