Brooklyn Nets’ DeAndre Jordan Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Brooklyn Nets De Andre Jordan

Jordan announced Monday on Twitter that he tested positive Sunday night and again on Monday, adding that he won't be joining the team in Orlando next month for the 2019-20 season restart.

Prior to the season's stoppage on March 11, Dinwiddie was averaging career highs of 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game to help the Nets maintain a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference despite injuries to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

"Originally, we were supposed to be one of the teams to enter into the Orlando bubble early, but training camp got switched back to NY and unfortunately I am now positive".

One year later, Durant continues to rehab from his right Achilles surgery, Irving is working his way back from right shoulder surgery and Jordan is the latest National Basketball Association player to test positive for COVID-19.

"Originally, we were supposed to be one of the teams to enter into the Orlando bubble early, but training camp got switched back to NY and unfortunately I am now positive".

So if Brooklyn free-falls and Washington can get to within four games or fewer of the Nets, they'll play what is essentially a best of two series. Therefore, the absence of the two should not cause too much trouble for the team.

However, Jordan and Dinwiddie are different stories. Compared with the younger, faster Allen, Jordan's more experienced and more importantly, bigger and stronger to tussle with the opponents' big men in the low block.

The Nets will miss Jordan's role in rebounding and screen-offering as well.

Brooklyn Nets standout guard Spencer Dinwiddie has been diagnosed with the coronavirus, he told The Athletic on Monday.

Jordan joins teammate Wilson Chandler as Nets who have opted out of the return to action. Without Jordan, Dinwiddie will find it much more hard to drive into the paint or find shooting space from the perimeter.

There is now a three-way race for the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference between the Nets, Washington Wizards and Orlando Magic.
