YouTuber Jake Paul Gets Backlash for Filming Looting at Arizona Mall

Videos seem to put Jake Paul at Fashion Square in Arizona, where looting was taking place on the fifth night of protests, sparked by the killing of George Floyd.

A slew of big cities like Denver, Miami, Los Angeles, etc. have resorted to curfews over the past few days, as what was designed as peaceful demonstrations have grown into reciprocal acts of violence, with vehicles burnt and tear gas fired into the protesters, enraged about George Floyd being suffocated to death during his arrest by now-former police officer Derek Chauvin.

On May 31, the younger of the two Paul brothers was seen in videos with other would-be protesters, as fireworks were set off and a storefront was broken into in Scottsdale's Fashion Square. There were also reports that people had looted from stores inside the mall. The site is known for suicides and he went into the forest and filmed a man's dead body and made jokes while doing so and posted on YouTube, but it was taken down after a barrage of comments called him out for being disrespectful and disgusting.

The YouTuber posted movies to his Instagram story displaying him protesting exterior and going through law enforcement officials who threw tear gasoline towards him. The star's YouTube channel boast over 14 million subscribers.

Paul claimed he was tear-gassed by police and went to the mall to film the situation in an effort to "share our experience and bring more attention to the anger felt in every neighbourhood we travelled through".

"To be completely clear, neither I nor anybody in our group was engaged in any looting or vandalism".

"Jake Paul is using protests against the oppression and murder of black people for attention". "For context, we spent the day doing our part to peacefully protest one of the most frightful injustices our country has ever seen, leading us to tear gas for filming the events and brutality unfolding in Arizona".

"Imagine being Jake Paul, one of the richest YouTube celebrities on the f**king planet".

He wrote: Just for clarity, I am a videographer and my job is to document virtually everything. "We are all doing the best we can to be helpful and raise awareness".

'Nobody with us was looting or vandalizing, bit it certainly was tragic to see and while we understand the frustration, we don't condone or support any behavior like that'.
