Starbucks Adds Plant-based Meat to US Menu

The Starbucks Impossible Sausage Breakfast Sandwich

It also introduced a Beyond Meat breakfast sandwich in Canada in February.

Starbucks is not the only quick-service giant to partner with Impossible Foods.

The new sandwich features the plant-based Impossible Sausage patty, along with dairy-based cheese and animal-derived eggs.

Starbucks U.S. has added Impossible's vegan sausage breakfast sandwich for meat-eaters and flexitarians along with multiple plant-based drinks to its permanent menu.

Beyond Meat is Impossible Foods' chief competitor.

What Happened: Starbucks is adding a new Impossible breakfast sandwich to its US food menu, and CNBC's Aditi Roy said it gives Impossible a "huge win" over its rivals.

Subscribe now to the world's #1 plant-based magazine! Impossible Foods CEO David Lee told the outlet they were trying to create a "better meat consumed by the meat eater".

The new product, launching today, also expands the reach of fake sausage, which is shaping up to be this year's version of the meatless burger, a runaway hit at fast food venues in 2019.

Impossible Foods is on the rise. The product, which has 22 grams of protein, will be available in the USA beginning today, June 23.

Asked why it went with an Impossible Foods sausage for the US over one from Beyond Meat, Starbucks said it works with a variety of suppliers around the globe.

That's even easier now, especially for Starbucks fans, as these sandwiches are available now at most Starbucks locations in the U.S. After Burger King added the popular Impossible Whopper, the company started selling products in grocery stores across the U.S and is testing direct-to-consumer sales, according to Bloomberg News. Starbucks is highlighting the vegan foam in two beverage options: Cold Brew with Cinnamon Almondmilk Foam and Cold Brew with Dark Cocoa Almondmilk Foam.
