Enthusiasts could not be more excited about the BET Awards, which honor Black excellence in entertainment and sports.

Beyonce, who was given a humanitarian award by former USA first lady Michelle Obama for her charitable initiatives, urged the Black community to use its vote in upcoming US elections to dismantle "racist and unequal systems". "You can see it in everything she does, from her music that gives voice to Black joy and Black pain, to her activism that demands justice for Black lives".

Beyoncé has been awarded the humanitarian award at the BET Awards, using her speech to encourage viewers to vote "like our life depends on it" in the upcoming United States election. "To my girl, I just want to say - you inspire me". Beyoncé dedicated her award to her "brothers and sisters out there inspiring me, marching and fighting for change".

Public Enemy opened the telecast with a new version of its classic "Fight the Power" with fresh verses by Nas, Black Thought, YG and Rapsody, the last of whom served up some indelible words - "You love "Black Panther" but not Fred Hampton" - about the troubled commodification of Black culture. "Nipsey Hussle, thank you for working with me on this "Higher" record".

"Your voices are being heard, and you are proving to our ancestors at their struggles were not in vain". We have one more thing we have to do, and that is to vote.
