As a teen, Kanye worked in a Gap store in Chicago and Mark Breitbard, Global Head of Gap Brand, said in a press release: "We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership".
Kanye West wrote a handwritten message celebrating the news of his new partnership with Gap, which was blown up to a large scale and draped over an entire Gap store in Chicago.
"Abercrombie was too expensive for me and the Gap was too expensive for me".
In the message, West said that he was "humbled at the opportunity to serve" and that he put his heart into "every detail".
West went onto inform fans that he loves "Tron", the 1982 sci-fi flick starring Jeff Bridges as a computer programmer transported into a miniframe computer - perhaps offering a glimpse into the apparel that will be offered through the new Yeezy x Gap partnership. The New York Times reported that Gap signed a 10-year deal with West, who will oversee a line of "modern, elevated basics" for the company that is expected to launch in the first half of 2021-a photo that West shared on Twitter on the day of the announcement depicted a brightly colored jacket and hooded sweatshirt. "The deal will see YEEZY receive royalties and potential equity based on sales performance over the next decade".
Teaming up with Kanye West, which gave it a bit of a gospel concert surprise Paris, the Gap will offer one of the best brands in order of time, very popular among young people.
According to reports, Kanye's Yeezy brand will now land in stores across the globe.
The line won't include footwear, a market in which Yeezy already collaborates with Adidas AG.
