Dan Evans wins the Battle of the Brits exhibition

Dan Evans is into the final of the Battle of the Brits

Tsitsipas is in pole position at the UTS after the world No.6 beat Australia's Alexei Popyrin three quarters to one on Sunday to claim his fifth victory from six outings at the exhibition event.

A dazzling cross-court victor helped Evans win a marathon sixth game of the set to take a 4-2 lead and there was no looking back as he duly broke Edmund again to love to wrap up his victory.

Although it will not make the official head-to-head record, it was also Evans' first tournament win over Edmund, who had won their two previous meetings in Monaco and Eastbourne respectively. It's been a long week and a great week to finish and hopefully we can do it all again.

Then, following the third-place match on Sunday, Murray said: "Cam played well throughout but I think Wardie definitely upped his level in the second set".

"Thanks to everyone who has worked at the tournament, all the players have loved it - they've been raving about it".

Brady was a significant presence at the event, going undefeated in four matches - including singles wins over major champions Azarenka and Sloane Stephens.

Murray said: "I'm okay - it's just that this week is by far the most I've done in seven months".

"The results were not the important thing".

At the changeover at the stop of the first set, his mentor Jamie Delgado mentioned: "He's played a fantastic established of tennis". The players had a great time playing.

"I've just not been able to sustain a high level for long enough".

Earlier on in the day British number one Dan Evans took a solid victory 6-3 6-3 over Cameron Norrie to secure his place in the semi-finals.

"It was a big step up this week from what I've been doing, and I coped with it physically relatively well, I thought I moved better with each match and was a bit more confident".

Remarkably the pair have never previously met, and it is ironic that the stars align to pit them into a showdown when Evans tops the British rankings and Murray, the three-time Grand Slam champion and former world No, 1 is fourth.
