The Illinois Department of Public Health said the state has had 140,291 confirmed COVID-19 cases in 101 counties since the start of the pandemic, including 6,847 deaths. More than 1.5 million tests have been administered.
Laboratories in the 24-hour period ending at 2pm Friday reported 30,245 specimens, with a preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests at 3%. To date, IL has reported 6,873 deaths related to COVID-19. IL has now performed 1,521,189 tests since the pandemic started.
As of late Thursday night, of those now hospitalized, 400 were in the ICU and 225 were on ventilators. IDPH will update these data once a week.
Chicago has seen 51,728 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the rest of Cook County has seen 37,679.
Public health officials have confirmed 857 new cases of coronavirus in IL in the past day, including 39 additional deaths. Of those now hospitalized, 373 were in the ICU and 193 were on ventilators.
A Saline County resident has tested positive for Coronavirus. On average, there was an availability of 44% of medical/surgical beds, 53% of ICU beds and 77% of ventilators. On average, there was an availability of 40% of medical/surgical beds, 54% of ICU beds and 83% of ventilators.
The Southern region had an average positivity rate of 3%.
