Wood County reports first COVID-19 death is person in their 30s

On Friday Monroe County recorded its highest data points to date for both the number of people in hospitals for COVID-19 treatment and the number of diagnostic test results received from labs

A Livingston County man in his 70s was hospitalized as of Wednesday night with a confirmed case of COVID-19. The country's combined total of confirmed and probable cases remains at 1,504.

A total of four people are being treated in hospital, two in critical care, and 32 cases are being monitored at home by public health officials.

"We continue to encourage as many people as possible to download the app - it will help us identify, trace, test and isolate any cases of Covid-19".

The new case yesterday was linked to the St Margaret's cluster in Auckland.


In a statement, the Health Ministry said the total number of confirmed and probably cases in New Zealand stands at 1504, of which 1154 are confirmed. "Presumptive cases are those without a positive diagnostic test who present COVID-19-like symptoms and had close contact with a confirmed case".

Mason County Public Health was notified Friday, May 22, 2020 of the additional positive test.

He added: "Going into the long weekend, the Dubois County Health Department and I want to emphasize the importance of continuing to follow our state and local guidelines to prevent COVID-19 spread". Of all those cases, 24 are considered recovered.

Due to Mason County being a small community, location data of positive cases will not be released to reduce the possibility of patient identification and to protect personal health information. It's the county's first coronavirus death.
