United States actor Hagen Mills, 29, kills himself after shooting girlfriend

Hagen Mills and Erica Price

The statement from Mayfield PD reads: "Officers responded to a 911 call shortly after 5:45 p.m. Tuesday reporting that a woman had been shot at a residence on South 10th Street in Mayfield".

Hagen Mills died on May 19 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Hagen Mills, an actor best known for his role in the pilot of Baskets, died in an attempted murder-suicide on May 19 (US time).

While Mills had some acting success, he also had trouble with the law.

Although Erica was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is now listed in stable condition, Hagen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ms Price informed officers that Mills then turned the gun on himself.

Police said Erica suffered "gunshot wounds to her arm and chest" and is in stable condition after being treated at the hospital. Upon her arrival, Green-Price says Mills shot her daughter at point-blank range. Her mother and daughter were not physically harmed.

Through an investigation, police learned that Erica's mom and young daughter, who she shared with Hagen, were held in the residence by Hagen. In 2011, he had some luck with short films and by 2013, he was cast in the film Bonnie & Clyde: Justified.

According to People, police are unclear what Mills' motive was in the murder-suicide attempt.

Hagen was due to star in the independent horror film, Star Light, set for release this August.
