These are the astronauts SpaceX will launch in its first manned mission

NASA Astronauts Prepare For A Test Fly In A Capsule For Their Next Mission

Crew Dragon is created to carry seven passengers but will only carry a max of four astronauts while flying NASA missions. The mission will launch two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station from Pad 39A of NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This was the same launch pad as the Apollo moon programs during the late 1960s and early 1970s. It will also be the first time anywhere a private company, SpaceX, will have built and funded the rocket. The capsule also features a sci-fi futuristic look with new control panels that will be exclusively touch screen.

The Demo-2 mission will represent many milestones and it will be the first human launch to the lunatic surface from the USA since the end of the space shuttle era in 2011. They have also been working with SpaceX to develop the spacecraft systems. Click on their names for their full bio.

SpaceX originally planned to launch the upcoming Starlink mission on Sunday (May 17), but was forced to postpone the flight to Monday after another mission, the U.S. Space Force's launch of an X-37B space plane, was also delayed by weather over the weekend. But NASA and SpaceX needed more time. Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley should arrive at the International Space Station about 19 hours later. It will be SpaceX's first human space flight. Several missions are now scheduled after Demo-2 and will be named Crew-1, Crew-2, and so on.

The launch of Demo-2 will take place Wednesday, May 27th at 4:33 PM EDT. The space agency has struggled to maintain a consistent presence on the International Space Station, paying Russian Federation $83 million per seat for a ride to the station onboard a Soyuz rocket.
