NASCAR back at Charlotte: How to watch the Alsco Uniforms 500

Rain forces postponement of NASCAR Cup Series race

Last Wednesday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway was cut short by rain, and Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway also saw a delay of nearly 90 minutes due to weather, though the full 600-mile distance was completed.

The unusual sight of the 35-pound, $1,877 pieces of equipment bouncing down the track was caught on camera by Fox Sports and led to the suspension of three of Hamlin's team members.

The race was rescheduled for Thursday night at 7 p.m., which in turn forced NASCAR to move the Xfinity Series race scheduled for Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway. With a Thursday night race, a turnaround for a Saturday race was logistically impossible.

William Byron is set to start on the pole for the race after NASCAR inverted the top 20 finishers from Sunday's Coca-Cola 600.

Kyle Busch won the Xfinity Series race on Monday night and Chase Elliott held off Busch to win Tuesday night's Truck Series race, which was that series' first event since February 21 at Las Vegas.

On Monday, Kyle Busch pulled off a last-lap pass on Austin Cindric to win the Xfinity Series race.

The rain has delayed a second Cup Series race at Charlotte. The Xfinity Series was scheduled to resume its season on May 19 at Darlington but that got pushed to May 21 because of rain.
