IPhone 12 tipped to come with a nasty surprise for Apple fans

Apple may soon stop shipping iPhones with free earbuds

Apple hasn't exactly been shy about embracing wireless - the lack of a headphone jack on its phones proves it - and the company probably sees EarPods as an annoying relic of the past.

While it wouldn't be completely out of the question for Apple to find a way to include them in the most premium iPhone models, it doesn't seem likely the company would do so without also needing to raise the price or otherwise cut corners on iPhone features - both things that it would be loathed to do. If Kuo's report is accurate, this would be the first time that Apple has ever released a new phone without them.

As audiophiles here at T3, though, we always looks to improve on a phone's base bundled-in earphone offering, and there is no doubting that the Apple AirPods Pro would be a flawless partner for the hot new iPhone handset.

Fortunately they included their own EarPods which use a lightning connection, so iPhone users could still listen to audio even if not with their old cans. Apple is generating billions in revenue through AirPods every year.

According to the latest report by analyst and insider Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may not be planning to include the wired EarPods earphones in iPhone 12 boxes. The report does not specify whether these expected discounts would pertain to the second-generation regular AirPods, which sell R2999 with the wireless charging case, or the $249 (R5499) AirPods Pro.

Apple previously included a Lightning to 3.5 mm jack adapter in the box when it got rid of the headphone jack, but stopped giving it away for free when it released the iPhone XS line in 2018.

Apple is keen to make the future wireless.

AirPods have become an increasingly important part of Apple's product lineup since their 2016 debut.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro handsets are coming later this year, there will be four handsets in the range and now the logic board for one of the models has leaked.

MacRumors shares more detail, noting that LG is reportedly developing camera modules for Apple's two high-end iPhone 12 models, the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch, and is expecting to ship between 35-40 million in 2020.
