It seemed likely that Google would show off the phone at its Android 11 beta launch show, but a new leak pours cold water on that theory.
According to tipster Jon Prosser, the Google Pixel 4a is going to be released on 13 July. Originally, the launch was scheduled for May, postponed for June, and now it's been postponed again, Prosser claims.
The Pixel 4a will hit the market first in "Just Black" color, followed by a "Barely Blue" hue on October 1, Prosser noted in his tweet.
A report by GSMArena said that the Google Pixel 4a will come with a Snapdragon 730 chipset paired with 4 GB of RAM. It is likely to come in two variants ― 64 GB and 128 GB.
The smartphone will sport a 5.81-inch OLED screen with FHD+ resolution and will have a 3,080 mAh battery under the hood. But Google had to cancel the 2020 event, and rumors began to crop up suggesting that the release date had been moved to June. And we're hearing the same thing for the iPhone 12.
The $120 and $160 price cuts on the unlocked Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL respectively are available at both Amazon and Best Buy, but unsurprisingly, the latter retailer can add an extra $50 discount into the equation with upfront carrier activation. And it could also be pushed back even further. In the meantime, the 2019 Pixel 3a is still sitting tight in a quickly emptying field of decent midrange phones with excellent cameras.
