Allegedly, the device didn't heat up while charging either. Xiaomi the smartphone manufacturer company has developed a new 40W wireless charger with fast charging capabilities.
According to the accompanying details from the video and Weibo, 20 minutes will see a charge of 57%, and 40 minutes will fully charge a 4,000mAh battery.
The company has showcased the 40W wireless charging in a teaser video shared on its official Weibo handle.
Vivo launched its Apex 2020 which is a concept phone that arrives with 60W fast wireless charger. The video then recorded the amount of time it took to fully charge the smartphone. The vice president of the Chinese tech giant added that the wireless charger will come with a vertical air cooler to keep its thermal under control.
Wireless charging is not a new technology for smartphones; however, the technology was always beaten by the traditional wired charging technology in terms of charging speed.
Speaking more about the product, a Xiaomi representative told Android Authority that the charger was still in development, indicating that there will be more tests with the product.
Fast-charging technology has certainly grown by leaps and bounds in recent years.
It's uncertain when Xiaomi will bring this 40W wireless charging to the market, but since the Mi 10 Pro already comes with 30W wireless charging support, we've no doubt that 40W charging will happen very soon.
That said, Xiaomi's latest flagship uses current uses a 30W wireless charging solution, which is still one of the highest wireless charging rates, though there are a couple or more third-party wireless chargers that claim to offer the same output.
Last year, Xiaomi showed its 100W Super Charge Turbo cable fast charging technology at the company's developer conference.
In the video, we could easily see battery charging from 0% to 100% in just 40 minutes.
