Pep Guardiola donates Sh115 million to help fight Covid-19

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has made a donation of €1m (£918,000) to help fight coronavirus in Spain.

Ever since the outbreak of the coronavirus in Wuhan, China on 1 December 2019 around 417,000 people were infected and about 18,000 people died because of the disease.

Belarusian Hleb tried to make light of the situation as he flagged his home country as a possible destination for Barcelona's Messi and Juventus superstar Ronaldo.

Guardiola has been working with his lawyers over the past few days to work out the best way of using the money to help victims.

Former Barcelona player and manager Guardiola made his contribution to a campaign launched by the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation and Medical College of Barcelona.

"It will also help finance the alternative production, through 3D printing and other methods, of respirators and personal protection equipment for healthcare staff".


Spain is now the fourth largest country that is negatively impacted by the spread of the pandemic having around 39,800 people infected with about a total recovery of about 3,700 and more than 2,800 dead.

Catalonia, along with most of Spain, has been severely affected the spread of the virus, with the country totaling 2,696 deaths so far.

Messi's donation will be split between Barcelona's Hospital Clinic and efforts in his native Argentina, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

Meanwhile, the Catalan region is one of the areas in Spain which has the most concentrated number of cases.

"Pep Guardiola has made a donation of one million euros to the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation for the acquisition and supply of health equipment to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic", said a statement from the College.

Ronaldo have donated money for patients suffering from coronavirus at hospitals in Lisbon and Porto.
