New Half-Life: Alyx Gameplay Clips Showcase Movement Options, Combat, & More

Half-Life Alyx

While Valve initially planned to show off official Half-Life: Alyx gameplay at The Game Awards all the way back in December, those plans were abruptly cancelled shortly before the event.

Three gameplay clips -currently unlisted over on Valve's YouTube channel- provide a substantial first-look at what's to come in the developer hotly anticipated VR shooter Half-Life: Alyx.

The first video starts off in what seems to be an abandoned subway station where you are inside one of the carts. There are also people on the team for whom Half-Life: Alyx is their first time working on this series at all - and many of them certainly hope it's not the last.

In video 2 we get to see part of City 17, with Alyx solving a puzzle to unlock a door, then dealing with Xen infestation and headcrabs before finding a lift to the upper levels.

The third and final video is all about combat, with Alyx in an epic shootout against the Combine. You can check out this kind of movement in the video below.

"Half-Life means a lot to us, and it's been incredibly rewarding to refamiliarize ourselves with its characters, setting, and mechanics", he told Game Informer.

A few weeks ago, Valve confirmed that the Index VR set will be available to buy again in the near future, but stopped short of giving a firm date.

As we approach the launch of Half-Life: Alyx, many are likely curious about not only how the game looks in motion, but how it controls.
