Crocodile Dundee star dies aged 69 of coronavirus complications — Mark Blum dead

The news was first announced by the NY theater company Playwrights Horizons and SAG-AFTRA executive vice president Rebecca Damon.

Blum was well-known in New York's theater community, having appeared in several Broadway productions throughout his career, including Neil Simon's "Lost In Yonkers" and Gore Vidal's "The Best Man".

'Thank you, Mark, for all you brought to our theater, and to theaters and audiences across the world.

He is survived by his wife, actor Janet Zarish, as well as his mother, Lorraine, and sister, Nancy.

The actor started his profession on the stage within the 1970s earlier than he landed his breakthrough film function in 1983 movie Lovesick. More recently, he had recurring parts in Amazon's Mozart in the Jungle and Netflix's You.

He also worked dozens of times off-Broadway, including Kenneth Lonergan's The Waverly Gallery, Terrence McNally's It's Only a Play, Amy Herzog's After the Revolution, Craig Lucas' The Singing Forest and Zoe Kazan's We Live Here; he won an Obie Award in 1989 for his co-starring turn in Albert Innaurato's Gus and Al at Playwrights Horizons.

He played Rosanna Arquette's husband in the 1985 romantic comedy Desperately Seeking Susan. I'm so sad for his family and all the people who love him. May you rest in peace and power. He was a great actor and a very good and nice man.

SAG-AFTRA executive vice president Rebecca Damon confirmed the death of her "friend" on social media.

Hollywood is mourning the loss of longtime actor Mark Blum who passed away from complications caused by the novel coronavirus, according to multiple reports. Mark was smart, funny, and a true actor's actor.
