Paul Pogba hopes for summer exit but Manchester United want €100m

Football: Paul Pogba hopes for summer exit but Manchester United want €100m

It all seems as though it's building up to a showdown in the summer and Raiola has gotten things started already by claiming a move to Italy could be on the cards.

Paul Pogba could be in line to return from injury in time for Manchester United's derby match against Manchester City on March 8.

Now eighth in the Premier League, six points adrift of Chelsea who they face at Stamford Bridge on Monday, United are at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification for a second successive season.

The playmaker had been tipped to leave the club last summer, but Real Madrid were unable to afford him.

Pogba has hardly played since August as a result of two significant injury layoffs, the latter still ongoing after undergoing ankle surgery and keeping to a cautious recovery programme in order to avoid any further setbacks or relapses.

Pogba had set his sights on a move to Madrid but Real's offer of £27.6m plus Colombia forward James Rodriguez got nowhere near United's £160m valuation. "He would not mind going back to Juve but we will see what will happen after the Euros", Raiola told reporters after Juventus's 1-1 with AC Milan on Thursday (via Goal).

"Pogba wants to play at the best levels always. but he can't escape Manchester United now, in this moment where the club is not having a good period". You cannot be happy if you are not competing for the title or for the Champions League.

Raiola will try to convince United to lower their demands, especially as Pogba will have only one year remaining on his contract after this season.
