Lionel Richie tells 'American Idol' contestant: 'I don’t like you'

Katy Perry appeared on Wednesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live with her fellow American Idol judges, and things got a bit uncomfortable when she was asked if Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan would be invited to her upcoming wedding to Orlando Bloom.

"We have a problem", Lionel told the contestant in the clip.

"I call myself a bridechilla".

Katy, Luke and Lionel will once again sit through the usual parade of hopefuls - from the super talented to the just plain terrible and it turns out that the job of breaking the bad news often falls to Richie, who told Kimmel he tries to temper the criticism with a little positive reinforcement. "Look, they've numerous work to do whereas I'm out getting married once more".

Richie, who was praised for his wise words to Idol hopefuls, added, "The reason I don't think she needs me there is you only need one preacher, you can't have two".


"I can't afford them". I don't like your voice.

"Whatever my comfort zone was, they have taken me to a new level of just, by the seat of my trousers", he admits. "I don't like your attitude".

Making light of the awkward situation, Bryan quipped, "Lionel and I, we've been dropping hints and this solidified [it]". The late-night host requested if Luke and Lionel are taking the stage to do on her big moment.

The source added, "They have the guest list figured out and numerous details. But for the most part it's incredible what's happened this year".
