Jennifer Hudson to perform Kobe Bryant tribute at NBA All-Star Game

Tributes to the late Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers legend who died last month in a helicopter crash, will play a major role in Sunday's (Feb 16) 69th NBA All-Star Game. Additional details weren't made available, and the nature of Hudson's tribute is seemingly being kept under wraps.

Chaka Khan and Tenille Arts will sing the USA and Canadian national anthems, respectively, and Queen Latifah and Chance's brother Taylor Bennett will also perform over All-Star weekend. Lil Wayne, Chance the Rapper, DJ Khaled, and Quavo are scheduled to co-headline the halftime show.

The first team to reach the cumulative target score will win the NBA All-Star Game.

However, the National Basketball Association also has events and activities planned for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as part of All-Star Weekend.

In the celebrity competition, two teams, comprised of players including Taylor Bennett, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Jon Batiste, Common, and Jidenna, will vie for gold under the direction of Stephen A. Smith and Michael Wilbon.

As it turns out, there will be a whole lot more music in store during the weekend, as the league announced its full list of performers for the various events on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

On Saturday, Queen Latifah and a group of Chicago children will perform Stevie Wonder's "Love's in Need of Love Today".

In total, the February 14-16 All-Star Weekend, which includes a rising stars event, skills challenge, three-point competition and slam dunk contest, will feature a record 19 global players from 15 countries. Bryant was traveling in his private helicopter when it crashed in the Los Angeles County suburb of Calabasas.

Giannis is one of the team captains for the second straight year, and once more, it seems that it's just a matter of time for a U.S. team vs. a World team format to be used in the All-Star Game.
