Billie Eilish releases new James Bond theme 'No Time to Die'

US singer-songwriter Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell cradle their trophies after scoring big at the 62nd annual Grammys

Billie Eilish has released the new theme song for James Bond's No Time To Die.

The team at Eon have also released a new selection of character posters for No Time to Die, revealing the characters played by Billy Magnussen, David Dencik and Dali Benssalah. Billie Eilish, who recently had herself a very big night at the Grammys, in addition to performing at the Oscars, is the artist performing the latest James Bond theme.

Zimmer (Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator) took on the soundtrack just months before its release date, taking the reins from previous composer Dan Romer who was dismissed over "creative differences", Variety reported. "I'm still in shock", she said in an interview.

"The music of Bond has always been iconic and I've already witnessed Hans adding his touch of genius to the Bond legacy". With lyrics like "I should have known I'd leave alone-it just goes to show that the blood you bleed is just the blood you own", the song "smartly refracts the Daniel Craig depiction of Bond-dark, solitary, and tormented beneath the cool exterior-through Eilish's signature brand of teen angst", he writes.

The BRIT Awards 2020 will be broadcast live on ITV1 from 8-10pm on Tuesday 18 February. Bond themes definitely tend to land better when they lean towards a ballad with a touch of melodrama.

No Time to Die, directed by Cary Fukunaga, centers on the James Bond following the events of Spectre. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honour.

No Time To Die, the film, is due to hit cinemas in April. McCartney's band Wings performed the song, which became one of the group's most successful singles. After six films with Sean Connery, this edition starred Roger Moore as the quintessential agent. "Do you expect me to talk?" So far, Easton is the only artist to actually be seen singing on film during the opening scenes. The song is co-written by Eilish and her older brother, Finneas. It was also Pierce Brosnan's first shot at the role of James Bond.

Adele, one of the UK's bestselling singer/songwriters, wrote and composed "Skyfall" for the 23rd James Bond movie, calling it "one of the proudest moments" of her life. Get this balancing act right and that song will be inseparable from the film.
