Lord Snowdon was born on November 3, 1961, and took up his father's title on his death in 2017 after being stylised Viscount Linley.

David, 58, previously told The Telegraph that he bikes to work in London every day and spends many weekends at his country home - "a tiny cottage" in Gloucester, England.

Known professionally as David Linley, the Earl of Snowdon is a furniture maker and was the chairman of Christie's auction house.

Both of their families are said to be "sad" but "fully supportive" of the couple's decision to separate, which they informed the Queen of past year.

"As both Peter and Autumn are not senior members of the Royal Family, it was not felt necessary to formally announce their separation previous year", a statement said.

The spokesman said: "They had reached the conclusion that this was the best course of action for their two children and ongoing friendship".

The couple, who live on the Gatcombe Park estate, share daughters Savannah, nine, and Isla, seven, both of whom were bridesmaids at Princess Eugenie's wedding.
