An arrest warrant has been issued for Odell Beckham Jr., after the Cleveland Browns star slapped the backside of a police officer in the LSU locker room after Monday's College Football Playoff national championship game. Police initially applied for a warrant to charge Beckham with sexual battery, a more serious offense that can not be expunged. And, New Orleans authorities say Beckham's alleged interaction with the security guard, resulted in the football star being charged with a misdemeanor for simple battery. The warrant may prove to only be a small issue that will not affect Beckham long-term, but any legal issues will be concerning for the organization. In Louisiana, simple battery is "a battery committed without the consent of the victim", per the state Legislature's website.

He also appeared, in the video, to be checking what some of the LSU players were drinking, presumably since a lot of them were too young to consume alcohol.

Beckham Jr. found himself in hot water earlier this week after he was shown handing out wads of cash to LSU players following their win.

The reported contact with an officer was captured on video after LSU defeated Clemson 42-25 in the title game, which sealed a flawless season for the Tigers.

Immediately, the guard turns towards Beckham and the duo exchange some words.

The 27-year-old had already attracted attention for handing out notes to Tigers players after Monday's game.

Reports in the U.S. suggest, if convicted, Odell Beckham Jr could face up to 6 months in jail and a $1000 fine.

"They are cooperating with the appropriate authorities to adequately address the situation". Information and footage reviewed since shows apparent cash may have also been given to LSU student-athletes, ' the department said in a statement. We are working with our athletes, the NCAA and the SEC to improve the situation, "said the department". While LSU initially denied that money was real, quarterback Joe Burrow later said it was legitimate, sparking an investigation into the matter.
