Valve Index VR headset sold out everywhere but Japan

We are only two months or so away from the release of Half Life: Alyx. Following the announcement of Half-Life: Alyx, a much-awaited new entry in the cult series, the Valve Index has seen a resurgence in sales like nothing else since its June release.

As reported by Road to VR, the "full kit" bundle that contains the Valve Index, base stations and controllers, is sold out in all 31 regions it is now sold in. The Valve Index headset sells for $499 by itself or $1,000 in a complete bundle with all the sensors and controllers you need. On launch day Valve teased a first party "flagship VR game", sparking some speculation about new Half Life and Left 4 Dead games, of course.

Valve's customers in Japan can get just the bare Index headset, or get the package that includes the headset and controllers, but the full kit is yet to become available.

Well, Alyx has done that and more. Demand continued throughout December and more and more regions sold out while waiting times seemed to be moved further down the line.

The best way to play Half-Life: Alyx is sold out nearly everywhere in the world, but at least Valve hopes to replenish stocks before the game arrives in March.

Valve did not say when stock will be replenished, opting instead to post a message across the Index's local store pages that reads, "We're busy catching up with demand for Valve Index".

Speaking to PC Gamer, Valve said that it was "working hard to build more units and meet the high demand". Valve representative confirms this.
