"I said, 'What, did I have something do with it?' Yeah", Trump said.

Video of Donald Trump saying he had a hand in the latest Nobel Peace Prize has gone viral in Ethiopia after the United States president asserted that he had "made a deal" to save the country.

According to BBC, President Trump was referring to the 2019 peace prize victor, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

"And look, to a certain extent, I think the President himself is to blame, because who has been more critical and has trusted intelligence agencies less than Donald Trump in the past three years?", A asked Wallace. "But we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow", he said. "I think if they had been a little more open from the start, they might not have allowed this skepticism to develop".

Why did he win the Nobel Peace Prize?

Ahmed was awarded the prestigious prize for negotiating a peace deal between Ethiopia and Eritrea following 20 years of bloody conflict. So for two decades, the long border was closed, dividing families and making trade impossible.

Both Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Atti headed to Washington to attend the meeting and hold a series of talks with the USA officials and other concerned parties. The U.S. and World Bank are observers to the talks after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi previous year pleaded to the U.S. and the global community to mediate a solution. "There must be a way through which the interests can been addressed and there must be a way through which solutions can been found", he added, continuing "As for ourselves, we are willing to play a role for facilitating whatever agreement that can be crafted and we remain supportive to finding peaceful solutions between countries in our continent". Despite the bluster, the United States played a minimal role in ending the protracted conflict, the BBC reported.

The peace deal helped bring back Eritrea from the cold after sanctions were imposed in 2009.

A peace deal was signed later that year, and embassies have been reopened and flight routes between the countries resumed.

Trump allies previously floated the possibility of a Nobel in response to the president's negotiations with North Korea.

The official asserted that Egypt's president lobbied Mr Trump over the disputed dam project, leading to the USA taking a role in the discussions.
