London rapper Dave, 21, broke through previous year with his album Psychodrama, which topped Britain's album chart, while Glaswegian Capaldi is up for "Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent", the country's best-selling album of 2019.

Organizers have previously said this year's show, the 40th in a series that began in 1977, will feature fewer categories, allowing for more music to be performed on the night.

The pair have been nominated in the male solo artist, song of the year, new artist of the year and album categories, organisers announced late Saturday. Both are also nominated for their albums "Fine Line" and "Kiwanuka" respectively. Dave is also nominated for Best New Artist.

The other nominees for best female solo artist include singers Freya Ridings, FKA Twigs, Charli XCX and Mahalia.

Coldplay, Ponies, Bastille, bring me the Horizontand rap duo D-Block Europe They are the nominees for the best British group.


Grime rapper Stormzy, who headlined Glastonbury Festival in 2019, is shortlisted in three categories, as is singer Mabel, daughter of Swedish star Neneh Cherry.

Among the non-British artists who will receive recognition in the worldwide categories are Billie eilish, Ariana Grande, Lizzo, Post Malone, Bruce springsteen, Camila CabelloY King's wool. Different songs nominated embody Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's "I Do not Care", Sam Smith and Normani's "Dancing with a Stranger", and Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus' collaboration, "Nothing Breaks Like a Coronary heart".

Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello, Lana Del Rey and Lizzo are in the running for best worldwide female solo artist.

Soul star Celeste has already been launched as a result of the victor of the BRITs Rising Star accolade.

The 2020 Brit Awards will take place on Tuesday, February 18 at London's O2 arena.
