The City of Watertown will experience its second snow emergency in as many weeks.
Much of the snow removal had been completed in residential and downtown districts as soon as practical following the snowfall.
The city-wide snow plowing operation will begin at midnight on main routes, bus routes and collector streets.
According to a Department of Public Works spokesperson, the city issued approximately 3,800 citations for improperly parked vehicles during the January 18-19 snow emergency - down 50 citations from the previous weekend's snow emergency.
A winter weather advisory is still in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service, with a cold front expedcted in late Saturday, bringing more snow and falling temperatures. Total predicted snow accumulations, as of Thursday, calls for 3-5 inches of snow.
"Twenty dollars is the ticket for people who park outside of the snow emergency zone, but when one of those [snow emergencies] is declared, it goes up to $60, so it triples in cost and the likelihood of you getting towed also increases", Johnson said.
The ordinance is in effect until the street department "deems it no longer necessary".
The snow emergency is expected to extend through Sunday night and into Monday morning.
