TVLine reports that Netflix has renewed You for a third season, less than a month after season 2 debuted on Netflix to rave reviews and a buzzy audience reception. The renewal is not a surprise. The hype continued into 2019 with the debut of You season, which was released by Netflix in December and soon became one of Netflix's self-declared Most Popular Releases of 2019, trailing Stranger Things 3, The Witcher, The Umbrella Academy and Dead to Me.
Sera Gamble, who executive produces the show, indicated that she was game for a third season in an interview with Cosmopolitan UK in January. Gamble will also continue as showrunner.
Badgley and Pedretti are set to reprise their roles in season three, which will have 10 episodes.
By season two, Joe has moved to Los Angeles, where he uses the name Will Bettelheim and falls for a new woman, Love Quinn, played by Victoria Pedretti. "Joe's just insane enough to risk finding out", the description continues.
You was initially ordered by Lifetime in July 2018. Could Joe's new neighbor, who obviously shares his fascination with books, be the long-lost mom we learned so much about in Season 2?
The series is produced by Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television. Starting with Season 2, You will be a Netflix original. Berlanti, Gamble, Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo, Silver Tree, Michael Foley, and Justin Lo serve as executive producers.
