Human remains 'may be linked' to missing teenager

Crime scene Gardaí preserve the scene in Moatview Gardens Coolock where human limbs were found

Gardai are investigating a possible link between the remains in the vehicle and the human limbs found in a sports bag in Coolock yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

The discovery was made at Moatview Gardens in Coolock just after 10pm.

The scene has been sealed off and was examined by local scene of the crime officers on Monday night, with a more comprehensive forensic examination to take place on Tuesday morning.

Gardai are looking at the possibility the remains are those of a 17 year old who has been missing from Drogheda since Sunday.

Gardaí are in the process of identifying the remains and believe they could be that of a missing teenager involved in the drugs trade.

In a statement, gardaí said that it will be some time before proper identification of the remains can be confirmed.

Local Councillor John Lyons said the community is afraid following the discovery.

"But sadly, people are not surprised by it - even though it is pretty grim and grotesque to discover that somebody's remains were found in a plastic bag all dismembered".
