Cynthia Erivo, who filmed ‘Harriet’ around Richmond, nominated for Academy Awards

While the actress is yet to comment on her milestone nomination, Cynthia's fans are already campaigning for her to win the Oscar that could give her EGOT once and for all.

The fact that they wanted her to perform but not honor her for her performance in Harriet is rather telling.

Cynthia Erivo shows off the long train to her stunning gown at the 2020 Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday (January 12) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

Erivo was the only Black star nominated for an acting Oscar this year, and she's making sure to keep that a part of the conversation.

She has been shortlisted in the best actress category for her role in the film Harriet, about the American anti-slavery activist Harriet Tubman. She will also make history as the youngest ever performer with EGOT status.

"The reason I didn't perform is because I don't think it's proper representation, as a woman of color, of people of color in this industry."
"I do hope that that changes at some point", she said.

Vying for second place with 10 nominations apiece are three films: Martin Scorsese's elegiac crime epic "The Irishman", Quentin Tarantino's 1960s Los Angeles fairy tale "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood" and Sam Mendes' World War I tale "1917".

"It is bittersweet really and truly because while I worked very hard for what was happening, I also would have loved to be able to celebrate with other people of color who worked really hard this year also". "It just was like, C'mon".

The Academy Awards are nearly so white all over again and ignored films about women.

Cynthia is up against strong competition from Scarlett Johansson, Renee Zellweger, Saoirse Ronan and Charlize Theron in the best actress category.

The 2020 BAFTA Awards, which would be the 73rd, would hold on February 2, 2020, and many would be waiting to see how the award ceremony would pan out.
