Anthony Joshua presents his belts to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in London

Anthony Joshua on Saturday, January 18, met with President Muhammadu Buhari and presented his heavyweight belts to him in a handsome scene that sent delight into the hearts of Nigerians across the world.

Joshua presented the belts to President Buhari at a meeting he had with a group of the Nigerian Community in the United Kingdom.

Joshua who is a British-Nigerian boxer took out time to take pictures with Buhari and his entourage in London.

He would also according to Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity hold a meeting with the Head of the Commonwealth, Prince Charles in Glasgow, Scotland.


Anthony Joshua defeated Andy Ruiz Jnr last December in a unanimous decision to regain the International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) titles he lost to the Mexican in June.

Others included the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa; and Nigeria's High Commissioner to the UK, Justice Adesola Oguntade, among other dignitaries.

Ruiz had won the match in Madison Square, New York, while Joshua reclaimed the titles in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia in December 2019.

Joshua, who suffered a stunning knockout defeat to Ruiz in NY in June 2019, produced a masterclass to win the fight by margins of 118-110 on two scorecards with the third judge making it 119-109.
