Soccer Player Benik Afobe Shares His 2-Year-Old Daughter Passed Away

Benik Afobe released a statement saying he and his family were 'devastated and heartbroken'

Afobe, who is now on loan at Bristol City from Stoke, released a statement on Sunday in which he announced his daughter Amora had passed away following a severe infection.

Heartbroken Afobe explained how Amora was rushed to hospital but died following complications - with doctors doing everything they could.

"The entire family have been left totally devastated and heartbroken, and would like to ask that their privacy is respected at this incredibly hard time", the statement continued.

Afobe, who is on loan to Bristol City, is likely to miss the rest of the season due to an ACL injury he sustained in September.

The statement also said that the Afobe family was "heartbroken and devastated" and are requesting privacy during this hard time.

According to the statement, Amora Afobe (Benik Afobe's daughter) was admitted to the hospital for treatment after she unexpectedly developed severe infection.

Bristol City took to their official website to dedicate Saturday's 5-2 win over Huddersfield Town to Afobe, having learned of the tragic news immediately after the game. "We cannot imagine the heartache they are feeling and we will do all we can to support them", their Twitter said.

Wolves issued a statement on Twitter saying: "Our hearts break for Benik Afobe and his family following the tragic news of his daughter's passing this weekend".

Former Arsenal player Benik Afobe has been plunged into mourning following the death of his daughter. "The Wolves family are with you, Benik", Wolves, his former club, tweeted as quoted by The Sun.
