Minnesota did have the lead over the No. 1 team in the Western Conference at one point, and tweeted, "This lead got us all feelin' good as hell", referencing a Lizzo lyric, along with a photo of her at the game.
Davis dropped 50 points on just 29 shots to lead the Los Angeles Lakers past the Timberwolves 142-125 behind a dominant second half run at the Staples Center, leading them to their 14th win in 15 games. Alex Caruso added 16 points as the Lakers won their fourth straight and improved to 10-2 at home.
Davis and James, who scored 39 and 31 points respectively in the 136-113 win over the Portland Traiblazers on Saturday, are the first pair of Lakers team-mates to score 70 points or more in back-to-back games since Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal in 2003.
"It was very special to do something like this in front of these great fans, a historical franchise and my teammates, especially the way we've been playing", Davis said.
Davis had 42 points through three quarters, one more than his previous single-game high this season, 41 points in his return to New Orleans on November 27. "I'm looking for him, he's looking for me, and we continue to learn each other and where we like to score the basketball". That was before Wiggins took a big step forward to start this season as he is averaging career-highs in assists, blocks, rebounds and points.
Opposing defenses have already looked stumped when trying to defend the team's one-two punch as they can not double either player due to their ability to pass the ball.
