Kentucky Earns No. 9 NCAA Seed, Will Host 1st & 2nd Rounds

The CSU volleyball team celebrates a point

The Panthers will host the first and second rounds of the tournament at the Petersen Events Center for the second year in a row.

The Illinois State volleyball team is joined by other Redbird squads and supporters as they wait for the announcement of their NCAA first round opponent. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday at 2 p.m. for all-session tickets and Wednesday at 9 a.m. for single-session tickets.

The Huskers, making their 38th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, will open the tournament on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. against the Ball State Cardinals (20-11), champions of the Mid-American Conference.

Six Southeastern Conference teams made the tournament: No. 9 Kentucky, No. 10 Florida, No. 13 Texas A&M, Missouri, Georgia and SC. The winning teams of Friday's games will play a second round contest on Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m. MOUNTAIN.

Television and broadcast information for all three matches will be announced at a later time.

If the Gamecocks can go that far in this year's tournament, it would be the first time ever in program history that they make the second round in consecutive years. Nebraska is 2-0 all-time against Ball State with the last meeting on September 11, 2004 in Lincoln. Missouri was Nebraska's NCAA second-round opponent at the Devaney Center a year ago. In 2018, SC advanced to the second round, defeating Colorado in the first round before falling to No. 2 seed Minnesota. Southeast Missouri State won the Ohio Valley Conference and earned an automatic qualifying spot, along with Northern Kentucky, who won the Horizon League's auto berth. Nebraska is 113-32 (.779) in 37 previous NCAA Tournament appearances. This year's NCAA Championship is set for December 19-21 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
