Israeli and Palestinian communists join forces in solidarity

The remarks by the Arab bloc's assistant secretary general for Palestinian affairs Saeed Abuali came amid talks over current Palestinian affairs, in which he lashed out at the U.S. for "overlooking" the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian in clashes near the West Bank village of Beit Awwa southwest of Hebron on Saturday, the Palestinian health ministry said.

In contrast to AFP's and Reuters' headlines, Associated Press' headline accurately states: "Israeli army kills alleged Palestinian teen attacker".

It stated that ending the illegal Israeli occupation was the "key to peace and stability in the Middle East", along with the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.

The troops then opened fire and saw that one suspect had been hit, the military said in a statement.

Last month, Pompeo announced that the USA government will no longer consider Israel's West Bank settlements "inconsistent" with worldwide law. This announcement further clarifies the shift in US policy regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict since Trump took office, which has seen a buttressing of Israeli belligerence vis-à-vis the Palestinians.

The statement said the new Hebron settlement will create Jewish "territorial continuity" between the existing Avraham Avinu neighborhood and the Ibrahimi mosque.

Lawmakers now have until December 11 to find a solution or see parliament dissolved once again.

Demonstrations erupted in the West Bank on Tuesday, in a direct response to the declaration by the United States that they no longer believe Israeli settlements to be in violation of worldwide law.

At Sunday's weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu also offered good news for the settlers, pledging 40 million shekels ($11.5 million) for improved security.

Roughly 650,000 Israeli Jews now live on more than 100 settlements built since 1967, when Israel occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Today, more than 700,000 Israeli settlers, in addition to three million Palestinians, live in both areas.
