HIV rate continues decline to record low in British Columbia: Health Ministry

Being infected with HIV AIDS severely affects immunity and body's ability to fight diseases

There are 4,525 registered people living with HIV in Meghalaya.

The strategy, which focuses on making antiretroviral therapy widely available to patients, has since been adopted by China, Brazil, Panama and other countries in their own fights against HIV and AIDS, according to the province.

White House spokesperson Judd Deere argued against the DNC's comments Sunday saying Trump and his administration are "supporting those living with HIV and AIDS".

Health experts in Kenya warn that a majority of AIDS-related deaths are due to youth not taking medication due to this stigma and lack of access to information concerning the disease. "Over 6,000 cases of AIDS and nearly 2,500 AIDS-caused deaths were observed", reads the message.

At the height of the AIDS crisis in the late 1980s and early '90s, close to 850 cases were being reported annually, Dix said.

It said three people aged 15 to 24 became infected with HIV every week.

The plan announced during the State of the Union aims to cut new HIV infections by 75 percent in five years and 90 percent by 2020.

"Just because someone (has HIV) doesn't change who they are".

"HIV antiretroviral medicines not only prevents disease progression but also suppress the viral load to an undetectable level", he stated.

Although the study found that, overall, new HIV infections will decline by 70% in Eastern and Southern Africa by 2050, no country in sub-Saharan Africa can expect to reduce new infections by 95% among adolescents and young people by 2030.

"The solidarity of women, young people, gay men and other men who have sex with men, sex workers, people who use drugs and transgender people has transported the AIDS epidemic - empowering them will end the epidemic".

He said the disease could be prevented if spouses are faithful to one another and used condoms if they had more than one partner. "We are anxious about youths who have sex at a very young age without first receiving education [on AIDS prevention]", he said.

Yesterday, Deputy President David Mabuza in his capacity as the chairperson of the SA National Aids Council delivered a keynote address at the World Aids Day National Commemoration event at the James Motlatsi Stadium, Orkney, Klerksdorp, in North West province.
