Eichel scores twice, Sabres hand Blues third loss in row

'There's no panic in here': Blues believe the process that carried them to the Stanley Cup will come in handy...

Jake Allen stopped 28 shots. After the Blues tied things up 2-2 in the third period, Eichel had a response in a big way. The Sabres' captain handled the puck behind the net for several seconds before skating to the left slot and sending a wrist shot to the far corner. Nashville ranks seventh in the National Hockey League recording 9 points per game, averaging 3.3 goals and 5.7 assists. He has 12 goals and 13 assists during that span. Calle Jarnkrok has five goals and four assists over the last 10 games for Nashville.

"It's something I worked on this summer", Eichel said.

St. Louis is the defending champ for a reason and they tied the score less than four minutes into the third period, but Jack Eichel restored a Buffalo lead just over two minutes later and the team wouldn't look back.

"It's the two-way Jack Eichel that I'm speaking about here, and people are starting to realize how he can finish a game for you", Krueger said. Girgensons also scored an empty-netter in the final minute.

Alex Pietrangelo scored his historic 100th career goal of his career, but it wasn't enough to stop the Blues losing streak. Pietrangelo received a pass from Perron in the right circle and scored on a one-timer. "We hit three posts. He's give us a chance to win every night". The assists provided by Zach Bogosian and Jimmy Vesey. Larsson darted around Blues defender Vince Dunn and jammed a one-timer that bounced off Allen's pad and the right post before crossing the goal line.

There was a string of games in November where nothing seemed to be going right for the Buffalo Sabres.

Reinhart gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead when he redirected Olofsson's shot 18 seconds into the first period. He now ranks sixth in the league with 44 points, scoring 20 goals and recording 24 assists.

St. Louis got a goal from Brouwer a little more than three minutes later.

I do think that the Buffalo Sabers are the better team on paper, and both teams have had an extremely similar run of form recently. "But I don't know why we keep talking about it".

The teams face off Thursday for the first time this season.

From November 24, the first game after the Bruins loss, until they ended a three-game, Western Canada road trip with an overtime victory against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, Buffalo's 5v5 play put them in a position to win games while other aspects of their overall game sputtered.
