Pulisic keeps up scoring run for Chelsea in win over Palace

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Crystal Palace in a close fixture at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

In between, the lively Pulisic also saw an effort well smothered by Guaita after a classy run while Reece James, who was preferred at right-back to the dropped Cesar Azpilicueta, sent in several unsafe crosses.

"The balance we've got feels good which is helping the young boys". The 19-year-old player was also great in attack.

"Every game in the Premier League is hard, particularly against a team as organised as Palace", said Lampard.

"He is a leader and a driver but with Reece and the way he is playing the opportunity to play him was one I had to make because it gives me options going forward".

Chelsea had four academy graduates starting and it was one of those - Tammy Abraham - who vitally broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute.

Mateo Kovacic was involved in the build-up when Chelsea went ahead, but it was Willian's classy touch that put Abraham through.

£57 million signing Cristian Pulisic looked razor-sharp all game and Captain America would seal the win for the Blues with a close-range header, the youngster's fifth goal in his last three Premier League outings.

Reaching double figures puts him level with Jamie Vardy in the Golden Boot race and he is the first Englishman to reach 10 goals in a league season for Chelsea since Lampard in 2012-13.

Pulisic's impressive form has mirrored Chelsea's, but the 21-year-old said he could not take his performances for granted.

Meanwhile, Palace - whose manager Roy Hodgson was coaching his 300th Premier League game - failed to manage a single shot in the first half.

Chelsea can boast six league wins in a row for the first time since Antonio Conte was in charge when the Blues won the title in 2017.

Mount has been key for the Blues since returning from Derby County and has been at the centre of Lampard's young Chelsea side.

This was a superb performance from James, who managed to pocket one of the best players in the league.
