Narwhal The 'Unicorn Puppy' is Winning Hearts Worldwide

Narwhal was giving a clean bill of health after getting checked out by a vet

A puppy with a tail growing from the middle of its face has found refuge after being adopted by a rescue charity.

Mac's Mission, a Cape Girardeau dog rescue nonprofit, said the puppy was dubbed Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn after being found living on the streets with frostbite Saturday.

On the rescue service's Instagram page, they answered everyone's burning question: Is it connected and does it wag? The puppy has a normal tail too.

"Dr. Heuring said there is no real reason at the time for the unicorn tail to be removed (and we all wish it wagged)!" read a Facebook post from the group.

"Right now he is pretty much the most unique wonderful example of what we do here and we are so thankful to have the chance to be part of his journey", the shelter added.

"Everyone is super interested in him", a Mac's Mission representative told CNN. The staff say they also want to monitor his unicorn horn a little while longer to make sure it doesn't grow or become a problem. This older dog, who has been named Poppa Smurf, is a Daschund Terrier mix - so they assume Narwhal may have some Daschund in him as well.

Narwhal was in the company of another dog when he was rescued.
