Massive Greta Thunberg Mural to Debut in San Francisco

Teen Climate Activist Greta Thunberg Gets Huge Mural In Downtown SF

Activists are seen hugging an inflatable globe before hearing from Swedish teen environmental activist Greta Thunberg leads at a climate change rally in Charlotte, NC., Nov. 8, 2019.

The Argentine muralist Andres Iglesias, who signs his art with the pseudonym Cobre, is expected to complete the project in the central Union Square neighborhood by next week, SFGate reported.

Cobre said: "Climate change is real". He painted a Robin Williams mural on Market Street that was recently demolished to make way for high-rise apartments.

"She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future", Trump wrote.

"What I want from people is to realize that we have to do something for the world". The organization is said to be supplying all the paint for the project.

It will not be the first time the young Swede has been immortalised in street art.

Earlier this year, the UK-based aerosol artist Jody Thomas painted a 50-foot portrait of the teenager, who became the face of a vast, coordinated strike to protest against government inaction on the climate crisis, on the face of the historic Tobacco Factory in Bristol.

The Trump administration announced earlier this week that the US would officially leave the Paris Climate accord on November 4, 2020, which is the day after the 2020 election.

"If we can amplify her message and get more people involved and listening to what she's saying, then we're doing some good", he told CNN.

Demonstrations took place in an estimated 185 countries in one of the largest environmental protests in history.

"There's something about that girl that gives me the creeps. That mural and those eyes is something straight out of a dystopian SciFy movie", one wrote, commenting on the SFist story.

"People are suffering. People are dying". "We're pretty much at the beginning of our extinction, so if we don't do anything right now, it's going to be too late", he told CNN.

The Swedish teenager has been giving speeches throughout the USA since her address at the United Nations Climate Action Summit in September where she demanded world leaders do more to combat global warming. "They continue to ignore us and to ignore the current best available science, so we have no choice but to go on for as long as it takes".
