Andre Gomes finally speaks after career threatening injury, makes big statement

Gomes’ message to Everton fans after surgery on broken ankle

ANDRE GOMES has thanked those who have sent him well wishes in his first public comments since his horrific injury against Tottenham.

The 26-year-old Portugal worldwide had surgery to fix a fracture dislocation suffered in Sunday's 1-1 Premier League draw with Tottenham. When does the transfer window reopen?

Speaking ahead of Everton's crunch Premier League clash with Southampton, Silva said: 'It is not easy for us to give a sure date about when Andre Gomes will return.

"Of course, when first we saw that moment and it's a really serious injury, but after the surgery and after all the examinations they did, everything went really well and we hope we can see again Andre playing this season".

The expectation had been that Gomes would not play again until next season, but Silva wasn't so sure on Thursday.

Spurs superstar Son became as soon as proven a crimson card by referee Martin Atkinson for the project, but Tottenham efficiently had the decision overturned.

Son cried and Aurier prayed as the Portuguese was stretchered off the pitch and taken straight to hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Son Heung-min has confirmed that he sent Andre Gomes a text message following his challenge on the Everton midfielder in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

"We will stay strong - it is always a tough moment for football players when something like that happens".

"We want to do the same, to go to compete".

Heung-Min Son once again showed modesty is not for everyone, as the South Korean International publicly asks for an apology from Andre Gomes after the former scores a goal against Crvena Zvezda.
