White House Tells House Impeachment Probe is "Illegitimate"

"I would love to send Ambassador Sondland, a really good man and great American, to testify, but unfortunately he would be testifying before a totally compromised kangaroo court, where Republicans' rights have been taken away, and true facts are not allowed out for the public".

The Oct. 8 letter from White House counsel Pat Cipollone says the inquiry "violates fundamental fairness and constitutionally mandated due process", and he called on House members to cease their impeachment efforts.

Former federal prosecutor and current CNN legal analyst Elie Honig said blocking Sondland's testimony marked "new levels of obstructionism" for the administration, which he suggested the House should use to its advantage in its impeachment inquiry.

Pompeo let a deadline for the House subpoena for documents relating to Ukraine to expire on Friday. Now they are stating outright that the president "personally ordered the obstruction of a lawful Congressional inquiry". The use of the personal device, they warned, makes it appear that Sondland failed to comply with rules requiring that federal employees use official accounts for government business. Sondland was an intermediary as Trump appealed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate political rival Joe Biden and his family. "He stands ready to testify on short notice, whenever he is permitted to appear".

House Democrats are waiting to see if the Trump administration will block the former USA ambassador to Ukraine from speaking to their investigators.

Another whistleblower has come forward making allegations about Trump's tax returns, according to The Washington Post, claiming that there were "inappropriate efforts to influence" the IRS auditing the president's finances. I have actually said that he has violated the terms of service of his Twitter account and therefore he should be relieved of his privileges.

"The so-called Whistleblower, before knowing I was going to release the exact Transcript, stated that my call with the Ukrainian President was 'crazy, frightening, and completely lacking in substance related to national security.' This is a very big Lie".

"The president has been crystal clear no quid pro quo's of any kind". President Trump was at 52% approval, 47% disapproval, among likely voters. House Democrats then subpoenaed Sondland, setting up another clash between the two branches of government.

Trump questioned why the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community failed to stop what was obviously a partisan inquiry. It alleges that Sondland attended meetings in Kiev with Volker, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials to discuss on how to "navigate" Trump's demands and the different messages they were receiving from "official USA channels on the one hand and from [Trump's personal lawyer Rudy] Giuliani on the other".
