Watch Drenched Harry Styles Find Clarity in Dreamy 'Lights Up' Video

Harry Styles

The One Direction alum dropped the single Thursday night (considering you're on the west coast), along with a sweaty new music video - all to his fans' surprise!

It got fans speaking immediately, speculating as to whether it was a bot that tweeted, or if something was coming from the former One Direction star.

In the video, a shirtless Harry dances with a group of men and women, and we just weren't prepared, tbh. In another scene, he's fully-clothed and standing in a body of water, while in another shot he's riding on the back of a motorcycle.

The lyrics, co-written by Styles, Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson, seem to be all about questioning life as you work toward self-discovery.

Styles, 25, recorded his new album, his second solo record following on from 2017's self-titled effort, at Shangri-La, the famed Malibu studio of revered music producer Rick Rubin.

On the dreamy, R&B-leaning "Lights Up", Styles wonders, "Do you know who you are?" on the chorus. You're always nervous when you are playing people music for the first time. It's pure Harry, as Harry would say. A couple of days in the billboards started to pop up in London and NY with the phrase "DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE?".

"You've heard it so much by this point, you forget that people haven't heard it before".

Styles previously said the record is "all about having sex and feeling sad".
