Surgery not needed for Bears' Trubisky (shoulder)

Chicago Bears punter Pat O'Donnell

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport calls Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky "doubtful" for Sunday's game against the Raiders in London with his left shoulder injury.

Chicago coach Matt Nagy wasn't prepared to go that far, however. "I'll know more later on here today". "I've got to make sure we know where we're at", Nagy said. I think the biggest thing is making sure that he feels good and then doctor-wise and all that stuff, he's OK.

Nagy also addressed whether Chicago's bye week that follows its game in London will alter its timetable for Trubisky. Minnesota's Danielle Hunter brought down Trubisky, who landed awkwardly on his left arm as he hit the turf.

After a few minutes in the medical tent, Trubisky headed to the locker room.

There's an ongoing mystery among Chicago Bears fans and National Football League media about why Roquan Smith was a last-minute scratch to Sunday's game. Should Trubisky be sidelined for an extended period, the team will once again turn to backup quarterback Chase Daniel. Daniel managed Sunday's game without any turnovers and finished 22 of 30 for 195 yards and the one touchdown as the Bears improved to 3-1.

Smith - drafted eighth overall in 2018 - recorded a team-high 122 tackles after appearing in all 16 games (15 starts) for the Bears last season.
