New injury worry for Chelsea star Kante

Olivier Giroud

France would announce via Twitter that Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko would replace Kante in the team to face Iceland.

Kante, 28, missed four matches with a sprained ankle earlier this season with Chelsea, but has two goals in his last three matches.

Kante's absence would be a concern for Deschamps as he's already missing Kylian Mbappe, Hugo Lloris and Ousmane Dembele.

"He felt a pain in the adductor muscle".

Talking about Kante on the finish of September, Lampard defined the necessity to handle him fastidiously: 'My feeling is that he has played a lot and that's as a result of he has been so profitable and so necessary to the groups he has been in.

'I made the decision [to pull him from the squad], because maybe it could get even worse.

"I do not think it's too serious for [Kanté], but I do not have an answer [to whether he'll play against Turkey on Tuesday] tonight". By putting Moussa in, I knew that he was ready.

'I have been there as a player and, if you miss a pre-season through an injury in particular, then you are playing catch-up.

Talking after naming Kante in the squad in spite of Lampard's save a query to, Deschamps stated: 'Lampard asked me no longer to pick out out Kante on the final rally, if it's serene that capability.

'If that's still the way I'm going to call him later to tell him it would be nice if you play Olivier Giroud a little bit!'

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will hope the former Leicester man is fit for the Blues' next Premier League clash, their home game against Newcastle on October 19.
