Majority of Americans think Trump should be impeached

Facebook reportedly rejected Biden request to pull false Trump ad about Ukraine

The social network reportedly rejected a request from Joe Biden's presidential campaign to pull an ad run last week by Donald Trump's reelection campaign that attacked the former vice president and House Democrats' impeachment inquiry.

But in a campaign speech in Rochester, N.H., Biden was unequivocal, saying that "to preserve our Constitution, our democracy, our basic integrity, [Trump] should be impeached".

Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees unless Ukraine got rid of its top prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was accused by a number of European nations and the International Monetary Fund of being weak on investigating corruption.

Congressional Democrats are stepping up efforts to impeach Trump who in turn has produced TV ads criticizing the Bidens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on stage during the Democratic Presidential Debate at Texas Southern University's Health and PE Center on 12 September 2019 in Houston, Texas.

He pointed to Mr. Trump's attempts to urge Ukraine and China to investigate Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, who sat on the board of a Ukrainian natural gas company while his father was vice president.

The letter acknowledged Trump and the Republican Celebration beget susceptible this ad "that spreads unsuitable, definitively debunked conspiracy theories referring to Vice President Joe Biden" and told Fb to purchase it down.

Despite Trump's allegations, made without providing evidence, that Biden engaged in improper dealings in Ukraine, there are few signs the controversy has damaged the Democratic former vice president's 2020 prospects.

"It's no joke", Biden insisted.

A Biden aide says that the former vice president has seen the past two weeks as "a remarkable period in American history" that made clear what he believes are Trump's obstruction and wrongdoing.

Yet even with Biden's more assertive posture, questions remain about how Trump's tactics and the impeachment proceedings affect the Democratic primary.

Facebook last month said it exempts politicians from its third-party fact-checking process, a policy it said has been in place for more than a year. A letter from Biden's campaign to Fb, received by AFP, acknowledged this statement had been "demonstrated to be entirely unsuitable".
