Bernie Sanders’ daughter-in-law dies at 46 two days after cancer diagnosis

Trump Feuds With Minneapolis Mayor Over Rally Campaign Update

Bernie Sanders' daughter-in-law Rainè Riggs, who was married to his son Levi Sanders, sadly passed away on October 5, just two days after she was diagnosed with cancer. Rainè Riggs was 46. I know it's a tough job, being in Vermont on a handsome fall day, but hey...somebody's got to do it.

She died about two days later, it said. I do know that we will continue on because we have to.... we promised her we would. "It is what she wanted", they added. "It is simple.... our world will never be the same", the family wrote of Riggs, who they said earned her doctorate in neuropsychology at the University of Vermont and spent her life dedicated to medicine and psychology.

Venturing outside his Vermont home on Tuesday, the 78-year-old senator is slowly easing back into the 2020 presidential race, telling reporters he "should have listened to those symptoms". Sanders says he was "dumb" not to have listened to the symptoms he was experiencing before he was stricken with a heart attack last week.

Bernie Sanders has told reporters he could slow the pace of his campaign for the presidency after suffering a minor heart attack.

Supporters privately conceded that the timing of the heart attack, just as the impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump was escalating, helped limit the political fallout.

"We were doing, you know, in some cases five or six meetings a day, three or four rallies and town meetings and meeting with groups of people", Sanders said about his campaign prior to his heart attack. Speaking with journalists before going to see his new cardiologist, Sanders said "I'm feeling good, getting some work done. And I should have listened to those symptoms".

A week ago Sanders' presidential campaign announced he'd had two stents put in to fix blockages in his heart. And you know when you are hurting, when you're tired, pain in your chest, listen to it.

"I want to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center for the excellent care that they provided", Bernie said in a statement on Twitter last Friday.
