You can watch a live stream of Microsoft's Surface event

Microsoft is teasing what it might announce at its 2 October event in NY. The invite says the event will start at 10am ET.

Nadella was not present during last year's Surface event and his presence in the attendance this year indicates that there is likely to be some significant announcement from the event. The technology giant on Thursday sent out another invite to the media with a new image that shows the Surface logo and looks like the shape of a processor.

At the moment there are no hints about what we can expect to see at the event, but Microsoft has chose to live-stream it for the first time ever. While Panay is always at Surface events, Nadella is only there on occasion. During that presentation, also held on 2 October, Microsoft updated the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop lines, unveiled a Surface Studio 2, and launched the Surface Headphones. The invitation talks about both devices and "experiences", so there's a slight chance that Microsoft might talk about "Windows Lite" OS, the company's ChromeOS competitor.

Microsoft is planning to live stream this Surface event, and Pocket-lint will, of course, bring you the latest news as it happens.

More interesting would be the long rumoured dual-screen Surface running Centaurus, but given the limited number of leaks, the odds of the appearance of these devices appear to be low.
