Relatives and government officials attended a mass for Zimbabwe's ex-president Robert Mugabe in Singapore today after arriving in the country where he died to collect his body.
Leo Mugabe, Mugabe's nephew, who is the spokesperson for the family confirmed this to Zimlive, a Zimbabwean media outfit. In private they say the feud with Mugabe's family could have been handled better.
Despite being loathed by the West, Mugabe has dominated their news pages since his death in Singapore on Friday.
He says the family and the chiefs in Zvimba will decide where the former president will be laid to rest.
On Saturday, the body will be taken to the giant National Sports Stadium where members of the diplomatic community, foreign envoys accredited to Zimbabwe and various other dignitaries would be accorded a chance to bid farewell and pay their last respects to the Pan-African icon, Mutsvangwa said. First is where the former president is going to be buried, there's still no agreement on that.
"Second, September 15 is President Emmerson Mnangagwa's birthday and there's growing opinion that for all manner of reasons, including of the superstitious kind, burial should not happen on that day". "My advice to the Mugabe family especially Grace is to make peace with their ZANU PF colleagues especially Mnangagwa", he said".
If Mugabe is buried at Kutama who will be buried next to Sally as there are reports that a space was reserved for Mugabe next to her grave? Mnangagwa's spokesman George Charamba could not be reached for comment.
